Mega Man DOS Remake [DEMO]
A downloadable fangame for Windows
The Mega Man games for DOS are widely regarded as some of the most lackluster titles in the entire franchise. And for both of them having very humble beginnings with the first one coming from Stephen Rozner’s passion project outside of work and the other being an environment themed game forced into being a mega man game. They deserve more respect and their ideas need to be expanded upon and fine tuned…so that’s what we’ve done.
In this Mega Man DOS remake, we plan to be faithful to the originals while expanding upon the core elements that Stephen Rozner envisioned for his games! Using the Megamix engine the games have been remastered to jump right out of the 1990’s onto your PC screen!
Blow Sonic Man to splinters and grab his steel-smashing Sonic Wave!
Allowing you to fire a sound wave that will increase in damage upon hitting a wall!
Sizzle Volt Man into a whining mass of wires and acquire his Force Field!
Allowing you to generate an electromagnetic force field around you making you nearly invincible!
And
Demolish Dyna Man and gain his explosive Nuclear Detonator!
Allowing you to toss out a time bomb you can detonate on your own accord and you can use to rocket jump like team fortress 2!
But not only that not only will the first game be included in this remake…oh no, no no this is a two for one deal we’re including the third game as well! Featuring Bit Man and his award-winning chin! So you can…
Blast Bit Man into digital dust and download his devastating Bit Cannon!
Allowing you stun enemies and hurt them over time!
Sink Shark Man to the seabed and reel in his slicing Shark Boomerang!
Allowing you to quickly dispatch of enemies in all directions and bring items to you!
Make Hydro Man cry you a river and harness his pressurized Water Shooter!
Allowing you to fire three devastating water bullets at your enemies!
Best Petrol Man in a duel and nick his spiffing Oil Stream!
Allowing you to coat your enemies in oil to do double the damage!
Rip Shred Man to ribbons and load up his deadly Blade Launcher!
Allowing you to pierce through anything at three angles!
Scorch Weld Man to slag and take his blazing Torch Arm!
Allowing you to feel the heat of absolute power!
With both games being redone, their stages and bosses are being completely redone as well while still keeping that original DOS flare…
And it's not just those 2 DOS games. We've got some more in the back waiting for you. A mysterious boss awaits in between the madness, and he's truly a formidable one too.

I recently played the original DOS game and now I found out about this, but It seems the game still doesn't have the Wily Stage, any time frame for when the full "Mega Man 1 from DOS" experience will be released?
I wish the robotmaster selection was more centered and away from the Push Start text. My ideal way would be to position them like a triangle around Megaman. Either that or move the Push Start text to the bottom with all that free space.
The color of the background tile set of Volt Man's stage during the outside sections clash with the foreground tiles. I wish they were darkened more like the underground portion, making it clear what is and isn't collideable geometry at first glance.
Dyna Man's stage is near perfect. No complaint other than the slightly bland boss arena.
Same for Sonic Man's stage, tho its boss arena is more varied. Still wish there was something visually interesting at the bottom of the pool. Also small enemies are a pain ;_;
Really cool what you have managed to make here.
what if i told you the next release of dos rm, demo or not, will have totally remade levels that aim to experiment on the gimmicks used far more, PLUS much more complex and engaging bosses?
also ill see what i can do with the stage select thing you brought up
This is what Mega Man DOS supposed to be like
It plays really well in general, this definitely feels like it is already in the direction of being one of the really great Mega Man fangames. I did suffer the glitch where I did not truly defeat my first boss, Dyna Man, but it was fun to walk through the level again. Guess I will have to see how his weapon functions at a later date.
An aside: Force Field feels amazing, it is really strong!
really really well done! i did encounter one glitch when i beat sonic man first the game didn't register that i beat him but after i beat him a second time with dyna mans ability it counted! i really like how well this remake is. there was one other remake from years back put on the steam community page and while that game was okay i really feel this is far closer to what i think of when i see "Mega Man for DOS Remake" my only real gripe is this demo was really short, so i look forward to when you release the wily stages and DOS3 but i hope you add more here! all around nicely done and keep it up!
thanks for the feedback! the weird glitch involving clearing levels that you brought up has been known for a bit and when i get off my break on monday ill be addressing all the bugs everyone found in the demo. until then, i'd recommend checking out the dos rm's discord server to be up to date on dos news as well as the occasional gameplay showcase of the new content in the fortress and dos 3 segment of the game (and other stuff, perhaps). but yeah im happy you like the build :)
